Alex Díaz
Alex Díaz is a thought and action leader in shaping how the world communicates and raises massive public awareness about climate adaptation. He is a former journalist and founder-president of COMMON Future, the only agency on the planet dedicated exclusively to this mission. CF, in turn, is an independent affiliate of COMMON, a global network of social enterprises. Alex is leading a stellar team of COMMON-member agencies located in the United States and around the world, soon to launch Resilient NOW , a series of high-impact content projects and awareness campaigns to let the world know what’s coming, according to the latest climate science, so that people, companies and cities may prepare on time.
In addition to content projects and campaigns, COMMON Future is a producer of original film, art and music projects to raise adaptation awareness through FAM. The firm is currently shooting its first full-feature documentary, From 1.5 to 5 Degrees , to be released summer/fall 2020 in the international festival circuit. In 2019, Alex will also publish his first book, Cypriana , a collection of his published columns on climate adaptation since turning his focus from sustainability to resilience in 2011, including the path he took to land the message and creative innovations he will debut with the COMMON agency group campaigns. Some of those columns were, and continue to be, published in The Resilience Journal, a one-of-a-kind blog/mag he launched in early 2018, and that serves as the basis for Adaptation Voices , the upcoming market-leading digital magazine of the American Society of Adaptation Professionals (ASAP), the leading industry trade group in the U.S., where Alex is communications adviser and Voices editor-to-be.
Alex lives in the U.S. territory and LatAm country of Puerto Rico, a place quite familiar with disaster management and flood events. His role in the CRC Advisory Board is focused on market development in Latin America.
